Don’t you love it when a small change produces big, positive results? That’s what I offer for you today: a simple daily practice that brings about undeniably better days in your life experience.
As the pace of life seems to be speeding up, we often begin our days feeling like we’re already behind – so much to accomplish, so many obligations at work, to our families, ourselves, and before we even brush our teeth, we can feel scattered and overwhelmed. We hit the ground running. Not an optimal way to begin the day.
However, the simple practice I will share with you here can shift that dynamic. With this daily routine you can experience greater focus, more purpose, but also more peace as you move through your day. Sound good?
Each morning, before you even put your feet on the floor, contemplate your priorities for the day and set an intention. Your intention can change from day to day depending on the agenda, but it can also be a broader statement that would apply to most any day.
The advantage of setting a clear intention for the day is that it serves as our North Star, the guide by which we make the many choices we face each day. When we are clear on our intention, we live on purpose; consciously; instead of just reacting to the ‘things that happen to us.’
The following are 24 intentions broken down into categories that you can use as is or tweak to better suit your own purposes. Either way, I hope that you will give the practice of setting an intention each day a try for a few weeks and note the changes it brings.
Each intention begins with, “It is my intention to…”
