Do you feel this way? Do you feel stuck in some aspect of your life? Nothing is horribly wrong, but there is level of frustration; a feeling of not-rightness that is hard to explain to others. You know in your heart, though, that your life experience can be more satisfying and fulfilling than it currently is.
Before we move on, let me just say Bravo! I applaud you for believing that there is another level of living life that is more satisfying, and believing that you deserve that. That is a powerful Step 1 moment!
Many of my clients first reach out to me with this very complaint. They feel stuck and don’t know what to do or where to begin, and they feel this way for a very good reason! The way we are created and the culture we live in do not dovetail well together in this regard.
As humans, we are creative, expansive beings. It is our nature to reach for more – to learn more, to experience more, to do more. Yet our society is set up in such a way that when we finish our formal education, get a job and a family, we settle into a coasting mode. We meet our obligations and do the best we can to be a responsible adult and look after everyone who depends upon us.
While that is an admirable thing to do, our creativity often gets neglected along the way. Our naturally explorative spirit is silenced in the name of responsibility. There are times in life when this has to happen, and that’s okay for the short term, but if we continue in this way over a long period, we notice the lack of expansiveness and begin to feel stuck.
