Meet Diane Marie Martinez

At 47 years old I knew I needed a change. I felt light years away from my heart and my truth - and knew in my soul that I needed to leave my marriage of 25+ years. In the years leading up to that moment, I had witnessed up close and personal, the illnesses and deaths of two good women in my life who were very unhappy. Chronically unhappy, yet determined to stay put.

Would that happen to me? I didn’t want to hang around and find out. I was blessed to have a mama who taught me, “To thine own self be true.”  I can still see her wagging her finger in my face with that admonition. 

I knew then that I wasn’t being true to my authentic self. So I did the hardest thing I’ve ever done. 

I chose my happiness.

And I trusted that I could figure it out - just like I did as a young 25 year old expat. There were days when I was confident I would eventually 'get there.' Other days I felt like I just might buckle under the weight of all there was to do on my own. Eventually though, I created a life that felt like me again.

I not only made new friends, and found deep meaningful work, I experienced a newfound sense of joy. My life is now full and deeply connected in a way that at one point - I couldn't have ever imagined was possible for me.

Truth is - it's possible for all of us.

I became a life coach because I understand what it's like to know you have more to offer the world - and yet be (temporarily) challenged by taking that next step. It can be terrifying to do something you've never done before. It can also be the best thing that ever happened to you. What I know to be true is that we can either drift through life or consciously create it. I believe in the latter, because I know from experience that life is better when lived on purpose.

I don't have all the answers but I do have a lot of trust. I trust that when we choose our happiness, happiness has a way of finding its way right back to us ... tenfold.
