You’ve done, it. I’ve done it. We’ve all done it: Get rid of old stuff to make room for new stuff. We purge closets, bookshelves, garages, and basements to make way for new things. It brings a freshness to the space. It feels better emotionally and physically to have clutter cleared and new, more useful things to enjoy. So I ask you, as we begin a new year,
What will you clear away from your mindset to create space so the
new year can really BE new?
Do you carry old stories around with you? Limiting stories about why you haven’t, why you can’t, how things never work out for you? They might feel familiar and comfortable, but they come at a high price – it’s called being stuck, and it’s time to let that mindset go.
If you want 2026 to truly be a new year you must clear out the sad, old stories that hold you back. Perhaps they sound something like –
- I’m just not a tech person.
- I just don’t have time to exercise.
- My metabolism is too slow. I can’t lose weight.
- I’m too old to start dating again.
- I don’t have enough money/resources/connections, etc.
- I’m just not a creative person.
- All the good ones are taken.
- I’m no good at relationships.
- I’m hopeless at finances.
Do any of these sound familiar? It’s a worthwhile exercise to contemplate what you keep telling yourself. What old story is keeping you stuck? It’s important to take time for this reflection, because 2026, or any year, can’t really be new if we continue to drag an old mindset into it. It’s totally worth the effort because you deserve a life you enjoy.
